furnishing shops, and 80-seat full menu cafe. Long time
employee Diane Ramage is especially proud of the café. It is
“very unique,” she says, “we use the produce grown on-site and
serve our homemade desserts. Even the bison served is from
our own herd.” This working farm is also home to several cats,
dogs, roosters, and ... shhh … Daisy the pot-bellied pig likes to
sleep a lot.
Black currants are Kayben Farms’ signature product,
sweetened with honey from the Chinook Honey Company.
The farm also produces high quality trees, shrubs, and both
decorative and garden bedding plants. Kayben Farms are
“always growing, physically, and horticulturally,” says Garden
Centre Manager Courtney Neal. This is especially evident in
their newly developed children’s Sunshine Adventure Park and
Li’l JoJo’s concession. In late autumn the corn maze should be
ready to navigate.
Even the vendors enjoy themselves at the Farmers’ Markets
— where good food, fine arts and fun make every outing a
special occasion for the whole family. OL
