Finding fall fun
Wow!;If;that;was;summer,;I;guess;we’ve;had;it.;Three;months;sure;goes;by;fast;in;the
quarterly;magazine;business.
Yes,;it’s;September;already;and;we’re;pleased;to;present;you;with;this,;the;second
edition;of;Okotoks Living.;Response;to;our;first;edition;last;June;was;fantastic;(see
opposite;page);and;we’re;hoping;you;like;this;issue;just;as;much.;And,;with;more
great;stories;and;photos;on;hot;topics;like
sustainability,;sports,;culture,;business
and;housing;—;plus;features;on;shopping,
dining;out;and;a;local;personality;–;this
go;round;promises;to;be;as;interesting
and;informative;as;the;last.
It;seems;the;biggest;story;in;Okotoks
this;year;is;the;ongoing;debate
surrounding;the;population;cap,;which
we;covered;in;detail;in;our;first;edition.
This;time;around,;we’ve;got;the;results;of
the;official;survey;on;the;subject;—;plus
an;opinion;from;a;member;of;Town;Council.;In;a;related;article,;we;take;a;closer;look
at;the;single;largest;concern;regarding;the;population;cap;—;water.
This;edition;also;finds;us;‘out;on;the;town’;in;Okotoks,;looking;for;fun;in;all;the;right
places;including;the;Okotoks;Museum;and;Archives,;area;Farmers’;Markets;and;some
local;fine;dining;establishments.;We;even;dropped;in;on;Okotoks;Oilers;Coach;and;GM
Dan;MacDonald;for;a;preview;of;the;upcoming;hockey;season.;One;thing;we;learned
from;researching;these;articles:;Okotokians;will;never;be;starved;for;good;food;or
good;fun!
We;also;hit;the;jackpot;with;our;personality;profile;this;time,;landing;Mr.;Okotoks
himself,;long-time;resident;(and;full-time;character);Pete;Mullaney.;Whether;on;the
chuckwagon;circuit,;in;his;barbershop,;or;playing;his;fiddle;at;the;local;dancehall,
Pete’s;always;been;ready;with;a;warm;smile,;strong;handshake;and;an;interesting
story;or;two;to;tell.
Of;course,;in;addition;to;these;regular;departments;and;feature;articles,;you’ll;still
be;able;to;find;several;other;helpful;items;—;including:;church;and;school;listings,
important;phone;numbers,;upcoming;events,;and;a;handy;town;map;—;in;each
edition;of;the;magazine.
And,;finally,;a;correction.;Seems;we;mislabeled;a;photo;last;time;and;ended;up;with

I’ve;since;been;out;for;a;tour;of;the;unique;‘community;within;a;community’,;and
